Awaken To Your Body Signals For Change!

I share my story in the hope that someone else shares their own.  That is ultimately what creates change!

Ulcerative Colitis is not something I focus my attention on anymore, but it was a big part of my life.  A part of me is very grateful for medical drugs and I strongly believe there is a place for modern medicine.  
I am satisfied with the time it has bought me to be able to look for other healing options – I feel very fortunate to have been given that option without experiencing any ‘side effects’.  In saying this, I am referring to the infusions I have every eight weeks at the hospital for a condition that not even the doctors could put a solid label on.

Nevertheless, I do believe the ethics behind pharmaceuticals need to be closely watched and patients need to be aware to not fall into the trap of handing over their power to a doctor and foolishly saying ‘fix me’.

I want to take the time to acknowledge the medical community for helping me at the times I most needed it and giving me my life back. However, I knew that I couldn’t keep going down this path forever…

As the drugs I was on have many serious long-term side effects, I chose to no longer turn a blind eye and look the other way.

Your Body Signals for Change

There comes a time during everyone’s wellness journey where you can no longer suppress the red warning lights your body is giving you.  You must awaken to your body signals for change: when your body desperately wants to get your attention, wants you to adopt a new way of life, of thinking, of mentality and ultimately a change in eating habits.

So How Do We Do This?

In our fast paced 24/7 world, sometimes we barely have time to breathe, let alone be in touch with our body’s messages to us!  It is at those times more than ever that we need to choose to respect our bodies by listening to the whispers, niggles, and minor warning signals and stop, reassess, take action to change, grow and improve.

So how exactly did I really awaken to my body’s signals? First, I learned to show up to life as a work in progress; with practice, there is always room for change, improvement, and growth.

Second, I removed all the toxins in skincare, cosmetics, cleaning products and processed man-made foods, so I could get a true sense of how my body worked and felt when it was clean and not struggling through massive amounts of toxic overload.

Third, I stopped ignoring, pushing through and brushing minor complaints and niggles under the carpet and started asking: Why?

Fourth, I went through much trial and error to come to a unique solution to what my body needs on a day-to-day basis.  This now makes up my entire lifestyle.

Fifth, I treated (and still treat) my body as if it was my guru and I acted on what it would tell me.  To me this is the key, knowing that most of the time, your body is smarter than you.  How that works, I don’t know!

Finally, I learned to trust my internal observation.  No one knows your body better than you do, so you must own that!

In hindsight, I stepped up my game and took responsibility to be accountable for my own life and health – and now I want you to join me so we can create a shift together.
